Job Description
Under limited supervision, the Facilities Maintenance Technician performs a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance of PMI properties. Landscape maintenance work includes plant installations, mowing, trimming, mulching, watering, fertilizing, irrigation, pesticide application, edging, blowing and cleaning sidewalks, greeting decks, parking lots, etc. Performs minor building maintenance work (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and painting) as needed.
Participates in a wide variety of seasonal and special event preparations including setting up stages, tents, putting up banners and decorations, and removal and clean-up at the end of events; participates in installing and removing various equipment; participates in storm clean-up and repairs.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement.

Performs preventive building maintenance duties, caulks windows and doors, repairs and replaces broken windows.

Performs routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets, sinks or urinals, fixing water leaks, leaking faucets, and water fountains.

Performs routine electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and assists in repairing ballast and light fixtures.

Makes recommendations for supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projects.

Assembles and moves furniture, hangs pictures and bulletin boards, makes name plates, moves and sets up tables and chairs.

Repairs and replaces door knobs or locks, repairs door closures, patches holes in walls.

Paints interior and exterior walls.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills
Education, Certifications, & Work-Related Experience:

High School diploma or GED. One (1) year building maintenance experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience preferred. A valid Florida Driver License is required. Some assignments may require a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with airbrake and passenger endorsement.

Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair.

Knowledge of a variety of building maintenance procedures and techniques.

Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of public buildings.

Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
-
Ability to read and following blueprints and assembly instructions.
-
Experience with using hand and power tools.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with PMI Staff, Vendors, Volunteers & Contractors

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Physical Requirements:

Work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. There is a frequent need to stand, stoop, kneel, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.

Work Uniform required. Candidate must wear PMI identification badge and uniform at all times. A standard uniform may consist of Blue or Brown Dickey Pants and Shirt, work boots, and belt. Please note: Shirts must be tucked in and belt worn at all times. Candidate is responsible for the purpose of work uniforms

This position requires visual acuity and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard equipment.

Task requires oral and written communication ability throughout the day.

Must have safe and dependable transportation.
